🥚 The MH-6 Little Bird: The "Killer Egg" of Special Operations

Small, fast, and remarkably agile, the Boeing MH-6 Little Bird, affectionately known in the special operations community as the "Killer Egg," is the ultimate streetfighter of the sky. Exclusively flown by the U.S. Army’s elite 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), or Night Stalkers, this light assault helicopter traces its roots back to the Vietnam-era OH-6 Cayuse. Today, it is purpose-built for surgical precision, capable of weaving between buildings, hovering silently in alleys, or landing on impossibly narrow rooftops to insert and extract commandos via its signature exterior bench planks. Its compact size means it can be folded up, loaded into a cargo plane, and rolled out ready to fly anywhere in the world in minutes. This unprecedented deployability was on full display in January 2026, when Night Stalker Little Birds seemingly appeared out of nowhere hundreds of miles out in the North Atlantic, carrying U.S. Navy SEALs to dramatically board and seize the runaway Russian-flagged oil tanker Marinera. Now frequently spotted sporting a new multi-tone blue camouflage scheme as the fleet pivots toward Pacific maritime operations, the MH-6 proves that in modern warfare, lethality and precision don't always come in large packages.
