The Original

Born From a WWII Necessity

Spotter cards were issued to Allied forces during World War II so a soldier glancing skyward could tell friend from foe in seconds, a skill that meant the difference between calling in support and continuing the mission as planned. Standard playing cards were the perfect way to teach it: most troops already carried a deck and could drill recognition in spare moments without a separate training aid. We took that same job, fast, reliable recognition, and gave it to a new generation of platforms for a modern interpretation of a historical classic.

Our modern spotters cards depict aircraft operated by the United States Armed Forces. We spend months researching and illustrating each platform, based on official specs and current photography, and release new editions yearly, retiring anything no longer in service so the recognition skills you build here hold up in the real world. The result is a deck of playing cards that cover 52 different in-service aircraft and 3 jokers; everything you need for your favorite card game or a round of visual recognition training.

How the deck breaks down

Our decks use suits to group and rank platforms by role so recognition patterns emerge as you play, helping you quickly understand how a platform relates to a larger group, instead of memorizing card-by-card.

Awesome quality

The cards look and feel great.

The cards look and feel great and they were well packaged. I do have to note that for the packs I ordered even after opening them and taking off the plastic wrap around the cards they fit very tight into the box and the tabs on the opening side seem to be maybe a bit too wide making the box hard to open sometimes leading to a bending of the flap which may be bad for the longevity of the box and its looks.

I like the premise I like what it shows, but I think they could give you more information about the different platforms on each card other than that.I think it's a great idea.And I do enjoy them

Clearly made with passion

I had heard of recon cards a long time ago, but kept forgetting about them. I work with a client that loves to play cards, but the monotony of how many hands he will play back to back is exhausting for me.

I got recon cards to keep myself awake through my interest in aviation, and to engage with my client more. He loves the cards on the basis that the art adds a degree of challenge in paying attention (since he must look at the corner to know the card), and it does indeed help me stay engaged.

The cards have been durable, the art is impressive, and the coating has kept it very slick. I was hoping the cards would be of premium quality appropriate to the price, and Recon cards delivered.

High Quality Cards

I bought these cards and I was really impressed by them. The texture is very similar to bicycle cards and not like many other custom cards that tend to feel cheaper. I ended up immediately buying a second deck to give to my friend as a gift.

Worth every penny!

I had been thinking of getting these cards for a long time but had never bought a fancy (not from the dollar store) set of cards before. I'm so glad I finally made the purchase because I absolutely love the cards! I've been beyond excited when sharing them with my friends, who initially think it's nerdy and then spend the time to flip through the entire deck. Then their attitude changes from humoring to fascination and respect. My card collector friends, my military friends, and my airplane enthusiast friends all love them for their aircraft details, variety, organization, and card quality. I like to look at them and use them to help me identify and memorize the different aircraft that I design hangars for as an architectural designer for the military. I can't recommend the US military aircraft recognition card set enough and I hope there's even more card sets to come in the future.

I’m joining the Air Force and bought these to help me learn the planes and helicopters. Not only is a good fun way to learn they are also great quality. I’m definitely buying the deck for the Chinese military and I hope that they make some for Russian aircrafts as I would love to also learn the MiGs.

I have been looking around for something that has the more modern aircraft since all I seem to find is decks that cover aircraft from the 1940s, this has all the newer air assets and general information that I enjoy seeing. I love these cards I like that the suits are divided by aircraft type. Attack, cargo, EW & Recon, Unmanned & Tanker, Aces as Presidential transport. Now I just need different color backs so that I can easily separate the decks after I have shuffled multiple decks together. 😉

Exactly What I Was Looking For

I wanted aircraft recognition playing cards that were more modern and these fit the bill perfectly. Wish they came in a box that looked more like the military issue kind but not really a big deal. Heavy weight, quality card stock that should last a long time.
