The Boeing C-40 Clipper is the military variant of the Boeing 737-700C, a convertible transport that can be rapidly reconfigured between passenger, cargo, and mixed-mode configurations depending on mission requirements. Operated by both the US Navy and US Air Force, the C-40 performs a range of missions from VIP and congressional transport to logistics support and aeromedical evacuation. Its commercial heritage provides excellent parts availability, a large trained maintenance workforce, and proven reliability on the global routes it regularly flies.

The Navy's C-40As replaced the aging C-9B Skytrain II in the fleet logistics support role, serving as part of the Fleet Logistics Support Squadrons that keep carrier strike groups and naval installations worldwide supplied with personnel and priority cargo. The Air Force's C-40Bs and C-40Cs serve in the special air mission role, transporting senior government officials and members of Congress on official travel. The convertible configuration, with a main deck cargo door that allows rapid transition between roles, gives the C-40 operational flexibility that purpose-built passenger or cargo aircraft cannot match.
